‘A Piece of Something...’, 2025

A Piece of Something is an immersive installation that reflects on environmental fragility and resilience in the face of climate change and technological transformation. The project invites viewers to reconsider what has been lost—both in nature and within ourselves—while offering a space for reflection, renewal, and healing through color and landscape.

The installation transforms the gallery into a living, breathing environment through 10 large-scale projections that cover the walls, parts of the ceiling, and sections of the floor. These projections depict landscapes of plants, trees, and fruits—vividly colored and ever-changing—creating a surrounding world of motion and light. Over time, the imagery gradually shifts in tone and hue, suggesting cycles of decay and regeneration. The stage lights further highlight the scene. The space combines elements of video installation, theater, and a Fluxus-style happening. An interactive component invites viewers to move within the space, their shadows merging with and altering the projected landscapes. As they walk, pause, or reach, their gestures create shifting shadows with the imagery—an intimate dialogue between body, light, and environment.

The work reflects on waiting as an act of hope, a fragile but enduring response to environmental loss. Inspired by real scenes of broken and uprooted vegetation witnessed after hurricanes and storms, A Piece of Something transforms these memories into dreamlike visions of rebirth. Ultimately, this project seeks to cultivate an experience of healing through color and landscape. It reimagines nature’s capacity for renewal and its profound interconnectedness with human life. In the immersive glow of projected light, viewers are invited to pause, feel, and envision a future where resilience and beauty persist amid change.
